Multi Line Text Required to answer \">\n<div class=\"-yk-747 \" data-automation-id=\"questionContent\">\n<div class=\"-CP-269 \">\n<div class=\"--j_-291\">\n<p>I\u2019m a financial audit partner, 20 years into my career, with experience leading audit and advisory services, and I specialize in two very dynamic sectors &#8211; the higher education and the private equity sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Funny enough, I attended the firm\u2019s recruiting day my senior year in college, and they didn\u2019t hire me. After three years of working at a university instead, I reapplied to Forvis Mazars because I had such a great experience at that recruiting day back in college. The people I met that day as a senior in college were genuine, and I still call many of them friends to this day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"---j-716 \" aria-label=\"4. Please describe your business in a few sentences. Multi Line Text Required to answer \">\n<div class=\"-yk-747 \" data-automation-id=\"questionContent\">\n<h3>What inspired you to pursue a career in this industry?<\/h3>\n<p>Before going into public accounting, I was a business manager at a Big Ten university. This really developed my passion for serving and supporting higher education, but part of me desired more corporate structure and a career path that I could own \u2013 to be my own boss someday but within the confines of a successful accounting firm. This desire led me to Forvis Mazars, which, back then and now, has a significant presence and specialization in higher education audit and advisory.<\/p>\n<h3>Can you share a success story or a proud moment from your time at Forvis Mazars?<\/h3>\n<p>One moment that really stuck with me was receiving a hug from a client at the end of a particularly complex and technically challenging audit. It was unexpected\u2014but incredibly meaningful. Audits are often seen as necessary evils, but when approached with the right mindset and partnership, they can be consultative, insightful, and even empowering. I try to make every audit of mine more than just a &#8216;check-the-box&#8217; exercise\u2014something that truly adds value and builds trust with my clients.<\/p>\n<h3>What are some of the key challenges you\u2019ve faced in your role, and how have you overcome them?<\/h3>\n<p>The most recent challenge I\u2019ve faced in my role has been relocating to Boston from Nashville. It\u2019s the age-old question of how do you \u201cmake friends\u201d as an adult\u2014especially in a professional context where relationships are foundational<\/p>\n<p>to success. I\u2019ve been going to events and reaching out through Linked In to simply get to know people. I find building trust and meaningful relationships takes time and being pleasantly persistent.<\/p>\n<h3>What are your key goals as you step into this new market, and what impact do you hope to make?<\/h3>\n<p>I hope to bring a fresh perspective to client institutions in Boston and across New England, and to help them navigate today\u2019s financial sustainability challenges with confidence. Boston is widely regarded as the birthplace of higher education in America. As someone deeply invested in the future of our institutions, I believe it\u2019s critical that we protect and strengthen that legacy rather than risk seeing it fade.
