As workers and businesses continue to navigate changing work patterns and preferences, the Chamber\u2019s Pulse Survey reveals how local businesses are choosing hybrid, in-office, or remote policies for their employees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Chamber created the Pulse of Greater Boston survey series to amplify the current best practices of our business community as we build and lead our 21st century economy. Having access to important benchmarks, like workplace policies that impact our downtown vibrancy, drives the competitiveness of our region,\u201d said James E. Rooney, President &amp; CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n<p>With 120 respondents surveyed throughout Massachusetts in December 2024, the Pulse Survey revealed that most businesses adopted a hybrid work model:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>85%<\/strong> of local businesses currently have hybrid models.<\/li>\n<li>Of the hybrid models, <strong>57%<\/strong> of the hybrid work environments had more in-person policies and <strong>28%<\/strong> had more remote work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many businesses allow employees to choose which days they work in the office:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>72%<\/strong> of businesses let employees choose the days that they work in the office.<\/li>\n<li><strong>55%<\/strong> of respondents noted that employees work in the office three days each week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To decide their workplace policies, the survey revealed that most businesses are influenced by employee preference and productivity when they create their work policies.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>68%<\/strong> of survey respondents noted they were influenced by employee preference.<\/li>\n<li><strong>60%<\/strong> of survey respondents noted they were influenced by productivity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As businesses develop their hybrid, remote, or in-office policies, respondents were also surveyed about their office space.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the previous twelve months, <strong>71%<\/strong> of businesses made no changes to their office space, while <strong>11%<\/strong> increased their office space.<\/li>\n<li>In the next twelve months, <strong>64%<\/strong> of businesses do not plan to change their office space, while <strong>10%<\/strong> plan to increase office space and only <strong>6%<\/strong> plan to decrease it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Media Contact: Casey Baines cbaines@bostonchamber.com<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Chamber is the convener, voice, and advocate of the region\u2019s business community, committed to making Greater Boston the best place for all businesses and all people to thrive.
